Two Days with Annie Leibovitz

Two Days with Annie Leibovitz

We just had the opportunity to work with Annie Leibovitz, one of the most celebrated photographers of our times and a designated Living Legend by the Library of Congress. And we're happy to tell you that it did not come about in spite of our age but because of it.

We have always dreamed of working with Annie. But most of us expect this kind of career high to happen when you’re half our age, before your career trajectory takes a detour of family obligations or is “youth-anized” by an advertising industry that doesn’t consider women over 50 to be a desirable demographic by any measure.

“I welcome age and learn from age. I think it’s not talked about enough, how interesting age is. It is really exciting. It doesn’t mean you’re gonna necessarily take a better photograph. But you know what you’re doing. And it’s just great. I love it.” —Annie Leibovitz

Our new ad campaign with Annie for Golden Door, a legendary destination spa in its own right, explores the human stories of its celebrated guests, all on the cusp of 50 and beyond. Each of them experienced a personal transformation there, ultimately finding their way back to what's truly important to them.

Who could possibly capture that any more spectacularly than Annie Leibovitz? So we picked up the phone and a shared understanding answered our call.

What seemed far-fetched in the beginning, in the end felt destined to be. So while we had to keep pinching ourselves that we were actually working with Annie Leibovitz, the icon, Annie, the human, was strikingly gracious, generous, funny, and down-to-earth. All the hard-won qualities that come with self-assurance, mastery, and yes, age.

Enjoy the work of Annie Leibovitz, including  from her new book, Annie Leibovitz: Portraits 2005-2016 below:
